Planning Material for a Refinery Turnaround
Early planning, staged deliveries and documentation control helped a turnaround team keep material off the critical path.
The Challenge
A processing facility faced a tight turnaround window with hundreds of line items across pipe, valves, fittings and fasteners. Late or incomplete material had delayed previous shutdowns.
The Solution
RNOW worked with the turnaround planners months ahead to validate the bill of materials against specifications, identify long-lead items and agree delivery windows. Material was received, inspected and staged by work package, and documentation was organized so it was available when the work was completed.
A dedicated coordinator provided daily status during the window and handled last-minute changes.
The Results
- Material available by work package when crews needed it
- Fewer last-minute changes and shortages
- Documentation ready for turnover
- Turnaround material available on schedule for the large majority of work packages
